City of Plano City Council Chambers

Infinity Sound upgraded broadcast lighting and control systems in the Plano City Council Chambers, installing new DMX512 control infrastructure with strategically positioned lighting to deliver professional-quality live broadcasts of council meetings. The modernization enhanced video quality and civic engagement while maintaining the functionality needed for transparent, accessible government operations.

The Challenge

Built in 1989, the Plano City Council Chambers had served the community for over three decades, but outdated audio/visual equipment, poor acoustics, and accessibility barriers were hindering effective civic engagement. The aging system needed a complete overhaul to meet current industry standards while becoming as future-proof as possible, with improvements needed for broadcast equipment, virtual meeting capabilities, camera angles, display quality, sound systems, and real-time closed captioning.

Our Solution

We delivered a complete modernization of the chamber's audio and video infrastructure, enhancing communication effectiveness during council meetings while meeting Americans with Disabilities Act compliance requirements. The project included upgraded broadcast capabilities, improved virtual platform integration, enhanced camera systems, vibrant high-contrast displays, advanced sound equipment, a new vote tally system, and provisions for real-time closed captioning.

The Results

Following eight months of construction, the chambers reopened in December 2024 with barrier-free accessibility and state-of-the-art audio, video, and acoustical components that serve Plano's growing community. The city now broadcasts high-quality council meetings, engages residents both in-person and virtually, and provides an inclusive civic space that reflects Plano's commitment to transparent, accessible government.
