Historic buildings deserve modern capability. When the Ellis County Courthouse needed to upgrade its aging audio system, we preserved the building's character while bringing courtroom technology into the 21st century.
We specialize in sensitive installations where heritage meets functionality. Our government clients receive systems that enhance proceedings, improve accessibility, and serve the public effectively without compromising architectural integrity. From courtrooms to council chambers, we deliver reliable solutions that respect history while embracing the future.
The Challenge
In a courthouse where clarity, control, and efficiency are non-negotiable, the Ellis County Courthouse was struggling with an aging analog microphone system that had become a serious liability. The outdated technology created cascading problems that affected everyone in the courtroom.
Audio quality was unreliable. Many analog microphones had failed entirely or produced distorted sound, disrupting communication and slowing proceedings. Intelligibility suffered across the room. Participants couldn't hear discussions clearly at their positions. Overhead speakers had to be turned down to prevent feedback, making an already difficult situation worse. Judges lacked control. The legacy system offered no centralized way to manage microphones, forcing workarounds that interrupted the flow of proceedings. Court reporters had no flexibility. Some preferred listening through speakers while others needed headphones, but the inflexible system couldn't accommodate both.
These weren't minor inconveniences. They were obstacles to justice that demanded a complete solution.
Our Solution
Infinity Sound partnered with Ellis County to deliver a comprehensive audio modernization that respected the courthouse's historic character while meeting the demanding needs of modern judicial proceedings.
We replaced the entire analog infrastructure with Televic FLEX microphone units and AE-R+Dante hardware, delivering crystal-clear, reliable audio across all courtroom positions. Each microphone now includes integrated speakers, allowing participants to hear discussions clearly at their seats without relying on overhead speakers or creating feedback loops.
We implemented centralized control through Q-SYS processing and Televic plug-ins, giving judges intuitive, complete authority over microphone management from the bench. For court reporters, we installed standalone microphone bases supporting both speaker and headphone outputs, accommodating individual preferences without compromise.
The Results
The Romanesque Revival icon now operates with 21st-century capability. Four courtrooms received complete audio upgrades built on a future-ready AV-over-IP infrastructure designed to scale and adapt as needs evolve.
The courthouse gained:
Reliable communication that supports rather than hinders proceedings
Complete acoustic clarity at every position in the courtroom
Intuitive central control that puts judges in command
Flexible solutions that accommodate different working styles
Long-term confidence backed by a 3-year warranty
Most importantly, technology no longer stands between the courthouse and its mission. The system works invisibly, preserving the dignity of judicial proceedings while ensuring every word is heard clearly.
